5 top conferences for web designers in 2017

submitted on 26 January 2017
No matter how much experience you have in the area of web design there is always much you can learn about the latest developments and trends. Reputable web design professionals such as Quikclicks benefit from the advice and information available at the top web design conferences. Of course, these events also provide an excellent opportunity for professionals to network and develop their list of contacts.

We are going to take a look at some of the best web design conferences around the world in 2017. Let's examine what you can expect if you attend one of these events.

1. Webstock, Wellington, New Zealand
This web design conference takes place from February 13-17 with the main conference days being 16 -17 February. Webstock is a hive of all the latest information in the world of web design. Talks this year include Empathy and Web Performance and Wicked Ambiguity and User Experience. You can book attendance online and prices include refreshments and Webstock merchandise as well as attendance at the event.

2. Dibi, Edinburgh, Scotland
Dibi stands for design it; build it and this is certainly the place to be for all web designers. The conference is being held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre from 30-31 March and features speakers including Chris Hammond from IBM and Molly Nix, from Uber San Francisco. The theme for this year’s event is embracing risk and encouraging designers to step outside their normal comfort zone. Prices for the conference, and easy booking, are available online.

3. UX in the City, Oxford, England
For anyone who is looking for a conference with a hands-on approach, this event is a wise choice. Attendees get to improve their network of connections as well as learning ways in which to create a high quality user experience. Workshops at the event include Improvise to Empathise and New Technology for New Design Research. Keynote speakers at the conference, which is in its second year, are Jane Austin, Design Director at Moo and Kristen Skinner, Head of Design Management at Capital One. Tickets for UX in the City, which takes place on 20 and 21 April, can be purchased online.

4. Respond, Sydney, Australia
As the name might suggest this is a conference which is all about responsive web design. Respond takes place on 4 and 5 May and it does not matter whether or attendees are well versed in responsive design or just starting the journey; there is something for everyone. The event provides the perfect opportunity for the sharing of ideas. Attendees also get to attend sessions including Real Art Direction on the Web and Designing Secure Experiences. Places can be booked at the event website.

5. TechCrunch Disrupt, San Francisco, US
This event takes place from September 18-20 and is designed to provide an opportunity for some of the brightest and best technology start-ups to showcase their products and talents. One of the most important features of the event is the Start-up Battlefield contest which involves start-ups competing against each other to win the coveted Disrupt Cup as well as a financial reward and invaluable media coverage.

All of the web design conferences we have featured have something to offer. Investing in a trip to any of them is money well spent.
